Frequently Asked Questions

What is Divlje Svinje?

Divlje Svinje is a free, community-driven platform for tracking wild boar sightings in Istria, Croatia. It helps hunters, local government, and farmers monitor wild boar activity to protect crops and manage wildlife.

Do I need to create an account?

No! All reports are completely anonymous. No registration, email, or personal information is required. Just open the app and report what you see.

How does the location work?

You can either allow GPS access for automatic location detection, or manually place a pin on the map. HTTPS is required for GPS on mobile devices.

What happens to my uploaded photos?

Photos are stored securely on Google Cloud Storage. They are used only to verify sighting reports and are publicly visible on the map. No metadata (EXIF) is extracted from your photos.

How do you prevent fake reports?

We use AI-powered content moderation (Google Gemini) that analyzes both text and images in real-time. Reports that appear fake, offensive, or unrelated to wildlife are automatically flagged and hidden. Repeated offenders are blocked.

Is my data safe?

We collect minimal data — only sighting location, description, and photos. Your IP address is hashed (one-way encrypted) for spam protection and cannot be traced back to you. We do not track users or collect personal information.

Who runs this platform?

Divlje Svinje is a community project aimed at supporting wildlife management in Istria. It is not affiliated with any government agency or hunting organization.
